"After the jump" is one of the more annoying pieces of jargon to show itself to the outside world in the past fifty years. "The jump" is used internally by Journalists. It was never intended to make it to print.

As to the usage here (from the main page), Bill, it's not a fucking jump, it's a goddamn (hypertext) link.
