I keep docs in a "fire box" with handle that does double duty as easy thing to grab for getaway, and durable box to withstand fire or earthquake. I keep separate kits in home and car (including lots of water and some MREs). If I end up never needing any of this, it will be the best small amount of time and money that I ever wasted. Have cash in the pack as you don't always know where the nearest ATM is or what you might need to buy right now and phone lines are down affecting debit/credit purchases.
