Three Girls and their Buddy are coming to the Greek Theatre on Wednesday, June 24, and LA MetBlogs has a pair of tickets for you.

The three girls are Emmylou Harris, Patty Griffin, and Shawn Colvin and their buddy is Buddy Miller.

I am very excited to see the legendary Emmylou Harris, and Griffin and Colvin are no songwriting slouches, either. The one I’m most looking forward to, though, is Buddy Miller.

Although Miller has been writing and recording with the biggest names in Nashville for years, I never heard of him until late-2007 when I saw the video below on Don Was’ “My Damn Channel” podcast. The song had been written the night before the session by Buddy’s wife, Julie Miller. At the time it was called “So New, There’s Still No Title.” It has since been renamed “Chalk,” and appears on Buddy & Julie Miller’s most recent album, “Written In Chalk.”

The song is so simple, yet so moving. So beautifully sad, and sadly beautiful. When Buddy sings it, his voice touches the deepest parts of your heart. I became an instant fan and listened to it again and again, before seeking out the rest of his catalog, too.

To win your tickets to see Three Girls and their Buddy live at the Greek on Wednesday, June 24, leave a note in the comments about why you want to see this show. Do you have a favorite of the four artists? A favorite song of theirs you’re hoping to hear? Just a fan of amazing songwriting? Or, like me, does “Chalk” move you so much you just have to see it live?

Winner will be selected by me after the contest ends at 5:00pm pdt on Sunday, June 21. Winner to be notified via email, so make sure I have your correct email address; it should already be listed on your comment sign-in.

Just in case, tickets may also be purchased through the Greek Theatre. Good luck, and I’ll see you at the show.
