		<description>You didn&#039;t mention whether he&#039;s still living, so I did a little more research and found this photo of the now 87 year old Walter Ehlers taken just last month: http://tiny.cc/walterehlers. And I found this website, which fleshes out the story of Walter and his brother Roland a little: http://www.homeofheroes.com/brotherhood/ehlers.html.

It never ceases to amaze me when I meet a little old man or woman, and learn they had stormed the beaches of Normandy or the Pacific, fought dogfights over enemy soil, shuttled planes or built B-17s during the war. When this generation is gone, we will have lost an irreplaceable treasure.
