He doesn't know how to spell the Spanish word "Orale". I'm an English teacher. If you're going to name your album with a typo, I hope you're a snappy dresser.

Travis, I think you're on to something. Also, he's wearing that fedora at the exact same angle as the generic Metblogs avatar.

Is it just me, or does Beck's hair look exactly like Lucinda Michele's in this picture?

I adore that Ensor painting too. So much that I bought a framed reproduction from the Getty bookstore to hang in my apartment.

I also bought a copy of Friedrich's captivating A Walk at Dusk, though this is my favorite from him.

Great stuff.

In the early 90s I was working at Toe's Tavern in Pasadena. We had a night of several local bands planned, and one asked if they could bring their friend to do a short opening set. Later that night a gangly kid literally dragged his guitar down the alley behind him and approached the door. I almost didn't let him in. Once on stage he struggled through a few songs, but the audience just wasn't with him. I thought he was terrible. I never would've guessed that he would one day turn out to be a really solid songwriter and performer. His name was Beck.
