Man of his Time

Spring Forward time is here.

Set your clocks one hour ahead before you go to bed on Saturday, lamenting that lost hour while you consider moving to Hawaii or Arizona to avoid this whole clock changing situation. Maybe you’ll want to shake your fist at someone for that lost hour. Shake your fist at William Willett, who conceived of and tirelessly advocated for it.

Seriously. Why? We certainly don’t need the extra hour of sunlight to bring in the crops. My brother has been stationed in Hawaii for two years, and I never have any idea what time it is when I call. (I guess I could figure out the math, but…)

It could be worse. We only slide forward or back an hour twice a year. In China, there are no time zones. Whatever time it is in Beijing, that’s what time it is across the entire country. That’s got to seriously mess with when happy hour occurs.
