I’m with the Ugly American on this, although I do think it makes sense for the local and state agencies to extend production benefits to those who shoot locally and use local vendors and hires.

I’m all for that. Though Schwarzenegger has had a tough time selling the idea to Sacramento, especially with our ongoing budget problems.

Iron Man is a perfect example as to the benefits of keeping productions here at home. It was shot completely in California (except the Vegas casino scenes) for $140 million making a total domestic gross of $318 million.

Favreau proved that you don’t have to drag productions up to Canada in order to make a decent profit.
