Fire in Griffith Park

July 27, 2008 at 4:49 pm in Uncategorized

A brush fire broke out today in Griffith Park, threatening a breeding facility of rare California condors. As of 3 PM, the fire was 80% contained. Details in this article from the Mercury Sun.

I was alerted by a friend as I returned home from a bike ride to the Observatory. It turns out the fire was confined to the north edge of the park. Only riding through the south edge, up Vermont Canyon and back, I saw no evidence of the fire.
