A school video project in my hood – inflatable sumo is the star

May 14, 2008 at 7:56 pm in San Gabriel Valley

With some 25+ kids on my little street it is rarely quiet. Today was one of those days that just kicked my butt into the ground and by 4 PM I was done.  No sooner did I lay down my kids are running “Dad, Dad get a camera there’s an inflatable Sumo on the street!”  WTF I mutter to myself.  What does a guy have to do to grab 15 winks?

I go out front and sure enough there was a kid on a skateboard wearing the inflatable Sumo suit with others on scooters and one with a video camera.  I spotted Nicki and asked what this was for.  Its a video for an 8th grade project over at Arcadia Christian.  “What’s it about?” I ask.   She can’t tell me as its a secret but it will be a story about a boy whose girl dumps him for being too fat.

Welcome to my ‘hood.  Welcome to LA where every-ones project is a big secret until premiere night.
