My nephew, Angel

Maybe I’m a bit overly sensitive due to having just spent the evening with my 10 month old nephew, but this is just not cool, ever.

Usually, the Los Angeles Community on Livejournal just promotes whatever goth show is going on or has posts about which under 18 club is the best.

But tonight, someone has reached out to the community of Los Angeles at large for help!

Nobody lost a dog… it was just a typical hit and run. Happens in L.A. everyday. Heck, I hear screeching tires outside my window most every night and every tenth time or so the screeching is followed by the oddly pleasing crunch of metal on metal. What makes this occasion special is that the victim of the hit and run is 9 months pregnant!

dear LA,

so today i was driving west on Santa Monica just past Wilcox (by the dragonfly) and some guy came out of no where and hit me! we both pulled over and he said he was going to give me his info and he just took off!!!!!!!! he hit me so hard my car door will not even OPEN! I spent the whole night in the hospital hook up to a machine to monitor my baby who was in obvious distress!

WHO HITS A 9 MONTH PREGNANT WOMAN AND LEAVES HER AT THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD??!!!!

please if you know ANYONE who fits this description or car, let me know and REPOST! the police are already looking for him, hit and run is a serious offense dumb ass!

Description: hipster, probably lives in Hollywood or Silver Lake, brown shaggy hair, parted to the side, very scruffy, no beard but had facial hair, light brown eyes wearing black matte plastic sunglasses from the 1980’s, about 5′7″, very thin, looks like every guy you have ever seen beauty bar…

Car: green mitsubishi, older model 1990’s, square body, beater, SOUTH CAROLINA PLATES, and a cure sticker on back of car

dear guy that hit me-

i will never ever ever EVER forget your face and i swear if i ever see in LA again, which i am sure i will, i am going to personally bitch slap your cure-listening-wanna be rocker-ass!

We live at Hipster central (Sunset Junction. Very few live here but they all come to drink over priced coffee) and I will be on the look out for that scum who hit you. And the cops will be called to let them know. I am assuming you filed a police report? (And when we cal the copes, is there a police report number we should references?)

Her anger is understandable and clearly warranted, but in the big city scheme of things reprehensible and criminal this suspect’s behavior doesn’t surprise me in the slightest.

I’ll certainly keep my eyes wide around Silver Lake for a green beatsubishi with Southern Carolina plates.

First of all – is anyone without a camera of some sort, ever? Your phone, crappy as it may be, is going to be capable of snapping a license plate. Never rely on human beings to Do The Right Thing.

Secondly, I’m wondering why pregnancy enhances the egregiousness of this offense?

Would it be better if she were, say, only 6 months pregnant? Not pregnant at all? A man?

I am someone with out a cell phone camera and the only time I have a camera with me is when I know I will be needing it. So to answer you first question, so some of us are with out a camera at times.

To answer your second question: pregnant is pregnant, one month or 9 months.

And it does not matter if the person who was hit was pregnant or not, or a man or an old person or a teenager- hit and run is illegal and fucked. And the hipster driving a green car from South Carolina needs to be in jail. And if I see the car, I will call the cops.

Mark here… Call me old fashioned, but I tend to treat women with a bit more reverence and respect then I do men. And pregnant women are in a different class altogether.

Dorit – We AGREE – my point was that the offense is sufficiently disgusting and unacceptable all on its own, and that the gender and/or pregnancy of the victim should have been a non-issue.

I just saw on the news last night a woman was hit and killed by of all
things, a school bus over on wilshire, so just another day in L.A. sad.
