Downtown folks, want to skip out of work Monday afternoon and see a cool movie that anyone not downtown is going to totally miss out on? London metblogs author Daneeta Loretta Saft is in LA for the world premiere of her debut feature film “Tokyo Cowboys.” The film will screen at 2:40 on Monday the 14th at the Japan Film Festival in downtown L.A. at the Imaginasian Center (google map).
“Tokyo Cowboys” is the only film in the festival directed by a non-asian and dealing with the trials and tribulations of a group of gaijin (outsiders) living long term in Japan. The film’s delicate and humorous portrait shows the price some pay for taking a bite of Tokyo’s success. Daneeta lived for 7 years in Japan before moving to London to attend the London Film School where she met her partner and co-director, Patrick Jackson.
There’s also a blog for the film with more info.
