And being familiar with this particular atrocity, I understand why it needs to be better known. (As a young fan of Dmitri Shostakovich, I first learned of the incident through his 13th Symphony, an odd piece that was also meant to berate, somewhat subtly, Stalin as well as Khrushchev .)
