It Caught My Eye: House Being Killed

Saw this in Palms, north of Venice, where there are many apartment buildings and so few houses left. A friend of mine lives across the street from this house and every time I come to visit I admire its longevity and beautiful angles and details. I’m guessing it was a Craftsman, so perhaps built in the teens or 20’s of last century? Today I saw this and it made me really sad. More pictures after the jump, but not for the faint of heart.

Some details on the not quite gone side. Sure, she needed some love, but look at those beautiful bones!

  1. Oh, that’s so sad! The house looks really beautiful, it even has arroyo rock detailing. They at least could have salvaged the windows and doors.
I’m so glad I live in a HPOZ.
