Trojans overpower, beat Beavers: the headline USC doesn’t want you to see.

Unrelated, here’s an actual Trojan Beaver.

Congrats to both USC’s women’s and men’s basketball teams for defeating the Oregon State Beavers on Thursday. More importantly, a big nod to USC’s student newspaper, the Daily Trojan, for their use of tact reporting the victories.

Here’s what they wrote, on the men’s win:

Trojans overpower Oregon State

And for the women’s:

Women of Troy beat Beavers at home

Phew! Crisis averted.

This, of course, pales in comparison to the problems the Trojans face when up against the other USC – the University of South Carolina – aka the Gamecocks. Fortunately, no additional games between these two college teams are scheduled this season.

  1. The USC Men’s Basketball team actually played South Carolina on November 17, 2007, which is considered part of this current season. Checking scores on my phone was a bit confusing: USC 85 – USC 75

  2. I added the word “additional” to the last sentence. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a Daily Bruin article referring to the Gamecocks recapping the game… hmmm…

  3. DM: Uh, Daily Bruin?

But great observation…As a Daily Trojan staff writer from 1992-1995, I got a big kick out of that.
