Help Me Find a Home for Benito or Santa Will Skip Your House

Benito1Know somebody that needs a pet to give them some company this holiday season? This is a lovely, sweet stray that’s been hanging around our house since he was a kitten, and he’s probably not quite a year old at this point. I’m a huge sucker and finally started feeding him and now he’s all love. He sleeps on our porch all day and runs around between our legs when we go out and, as far as he’s concerned, he’s our cat.

Unfortunately, we already have three cats of our own (one of which is another rescued stray. See a trend here?). I would love to keep him as my own outdoor cat, but my neighborhood is not the safest area for pets outside and, as he’s demonstrated on multiple fleet-footed occasions, he really, really wants to be inside. He’s social, and seems to get along fine with other animals. He also loves to lay on his back while you rub is belly.

He’ll need to be fixed and get shots, and he should have a vet check him out because he was in a fight recently and got his eye scratched (though it seems to be healing fine). I know that sounds like a little effort, but he really is super sweet and he deserves a good home.

More about Benito and free/low-cost spay and neuter services in LA after the jump…

Benito2If you’re considering adopting Benito, or any animal, and you’re worried about the “start up costs,” there are plenty of LA-area clinics that provide low cost or free spay/neuter services. Likewise, LA residents that make less than $40,000 a year can also get free spay-neuter vouchers available from L.A. Animal Services.

So, I ask you: how you can you possibly resist Benito’s musky allure?! If you’ve got a spot in your pad for a darling little cat, please leave me a comment with some contact info or email me directly at spencercross (at) gmail (dot) com. Honestly, I hate to see him go, but I’d rather he was warm and clean in one of your houses this Christmas than cold and lonely outside of mine.
