AMPTP breaks off talks… again.

December 7, 2007 at 8:08 pm in Strike! (WGA, DGA, SAG)

From United Hollywood:

As we prepared our counter-offer, at 6:05 p.m., Nick Counter came and said to us, in the mediator’s presence: “We are leaving. When you write us a letter saying you will take all these items off the table, we will reschedule negotiations with you.” Within minutes, the AMPTP had posted a lengthy statement announcing the breakdown of negotiations.

“These items” means nearly everything still on the table.

More details at Deadline Daily. WGA response at United Hollywood.

This comes after the WGA urged the studios to stay at the table with them, through the holidays if necessary, so they could come to an agreement that worked for everybody. Clearly the studios only want an agreement that works for them. I am starting to come around to Kent’s way of thinking.
