If you’re not already planning to ride the Midnight Ridazz La Noche de los Biciclistas Muertos (Parte Dos), I’ve got a couple of fun alternatives for the evening of November 9th.
Here’s a hint – they involve comic books and robots!
(From the press release)
The work of Eisner Award Nominee* Seth Fisher channels the likes of Darrow, Moebius and Otomo engulfed in a world of candy colored, calculated chaos. His pages are oozing with complicated beasts and visions of sleepwalking dreams. Brains are exploding and monsters are comfortable among the overgrowth of these surreal, tightly rendered environments.
Fisher tragically and suddenly passed away on February 2nd, 2006. Secret Headquarters will be celebrating his art with a display of original work that spans his all too short comic book career.
All proceeds from the art, mini’s and books will be going to Seth’s son’s educational fund.
Opening Reception: Friday, November 9th, 2007, 8pm – 11pm
Complimentary beverages will be served.

Two robots journey across a mythic American landscape of haunting, surreal beauty on a quest to become human. Their symbolic quest takes them from endless two lane highways to small idyllic towns to the arid desert.
With its breathtaking cinematography, innovative filming techniques, and above all its underlying search for humanity within a dystopian environment, electronic music duo Daft Punk (directors Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo) have delivered a film that finds a common thread with their previous work while exploring new horizons.

*The Eisner Awards are like the Oscars of comic books.
**I”ve seen this movie. It’s like a mashup of Easy Rider and THX-1138. Don’t miss it, if you can help it!
