We visited Blue Bayou on a trip to Disneyland last March and I really enjoyed it. I'd definitely plan it as part of your Disneyland trip along with the character breakfast (especially if you've got a kid under 7). We also enjoyed staying on property. We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel, but if you can swing it, the Grand Californian is amazing.

Took me 21 years to get to the Blue Bayou and even with the ride being closed (the rain had swollen the river too much so when the boats splashed, they got more or less flooded) it was magical. I split the Monte Cristo (which is only available at lunch) and the Flying Dutchman cookie boat with my aunt and the whole thing plus tax cost less than $50 and was more than enough food. We spent an hour and a half lingering over the meal (and who spends that time anywhere except while waiting for the fireworks or Fantasmic) without feeling rushed and without hearing or seeing any temper tantrums (by kids or adults). Plus they have the cleanest restroom available to the paying public in the park. ;)

Now all that's left is to dine at Club 33.

Although, Napa Rose in the Disney Grand Californian Hotel probably has better food than either. It's just too bad it's not in the park proper.

Awesome post. You beat me to the Blue Bayou write up. We were there weekend before last. You can make reservations online up to 60 days before your visit on the Disney Resort site.

All that aside I have to agree the Blue Bayou is a must do treat. We did the late lunch and the place was still packed and turning people away. Service was excellent. My daughter is usually the picky eater who rewrites the menu and prep to suit her (she thinks every place should run like Burger King) actually ordered straight from the menu and LOVED it.

In all the 5 of us were happy that this exceeded our expectations. At $180 for lunch for my group this is pricey but so worth it as a treat. It's now our official good grade bribe.

You made it on Nemo without a wait. What a concept. We went 3X this year and never made it. We all refused to wait the 90+ minutes to get on.
