How do you negate the integrity of an entire list of the Top Angelenos? You put Eazy-E, a non-essential irrelevant AUSTIN (African-American Urban Street Thug Inner-city) pathetic waste of oxygen on the list. How do you prove how historically and culturally stupid Angelenos are? Jackie Robinson over William Mulholland.

"I appreciate your defense..." Will.

No problem sweetie. I know BusTard is insane. He's much more fun in person. Browne

"Robinson died in Stamford Connecticut, not Los Angeles," Will.

My bad (or is it my bag, I have always f*cked that up.) I don't even know what a baseball is, but you know I do always hear about Jackie Robinson in Pasadena. My ignorance in regards to sports, sports people and sports related items is an embarrassing thing.

I did want to be a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader or Laker Girl, because in high school I was aiming high. Cheerleading is a sport right? But my boobs never did grow big enough for me to be a professional cheerleader...

I will never be as talented as Paula Abdul.

Darn.

Browne

(I'm guessing Bustard didn't read the whole article.)

I, for one, only knew of his baseball accomplishments before I read Will's piece, and didn't even know JR was from the LA area before hearing him nominated.

But even if he never played professional baseball, I'd say he may have deserved this honor. Bad ass piece, Will. Blew me away!

I appreciate your defense Browne but as a point of order that Bustard might chose to harp on (if indeed he's regretably serious in his criticism): Robinson died in Stamford Connecticut, not Los Angeles.

BusTard you are totally high. Jackie Robinson DID grow up in LA. Pasadena if you want to be anal. He died in LA. He went to UCLA. His wife went to UCLA. I think his grandkids and kids still live out here.

Put the scotch down you bastard. I will put my ladies size ten up your bum if you try to claim Jackie for NY.

You funny talking NY weirdos...

I'm going to give Bustard the benefit of the doubt and try very hard to believe he was being east coast hardball sarcastic instead of serious in his comment above.

Ummm, Bus 'Tard, face the truth: Jackie actually grew up here. He learned to play ball here. This "spread out" place you loathe so much just happens to have space for fields where youths can learn sports...How many great athletes actually grew up in the NYC area? Even The Great Bambino Himself was a product of Baltimore.

Duke Snyder was also a SoCal local (Straight Outta Compton!).

The Militant knows you NYC people refuse to believe that famous sports figures, much less great people emerge from the city you hate oh so much, but learn to accept the truth for once rather than resort to your own ignorant stubbornness.

And you people say that we're "Not A Sports Town." Did NYC ever host an Olympics?

Oooh, MOTED!

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING? Lemme tell you something about the lie that brought Brooklyn to Los Angeles in 1958: EAT MY size 15-E pieces of Brooklyn boot-leather!!!
If Jackie can be posthumously, uncharitably forced to be an angelino, then it means nothing to be the noting of being an angelino.
Get bent, and get lost.

What a great post. If I have any pride at all in being a resident of Pasadena, it's because Jackie Robinson once lived here. I'm still waiting for Pasadena to name a school or something after Jackie (they named the main post office after Mack).

When my son was 5 (he's now 23), he played t-ball with West Pasadena Little League at Jackie Robinson Park. He was the only white kid on the team. When we got the team photo, my son said, "Look, Mom. I'm just like Jackie Robinson."
