Cute Overkill, people. Three Sumatran Tiger cubs were born at the LA Zoo on June 3rd. Last Friday they made their debut to the public. Today I went to see them with my husband and we watched for about half an hour as they frolicked and played and mom, Lulu, hung out and watched.
Here’s my video:

If you want to help name the cuties and have some $$$ to spare, you can help the zoo. Click here. The cubs are on view from 10-2 every day in the tiger enclosure. For more info on the cubs, their parents, their birth and more ridiculously cute photos of the baby tigers, please click here.

Not to be outdone, the Lioness at the zoo was having some of her own fun. Check her video after the break.

What is that thing? It’s following me! GET IT!

  1. Pretty hilarious when they chase their tails! And those cubs are already so big! I mean, they’re only 4 months old, right?

  2. Great catches!

Not meaning to buzzkill the cubs’ adorableness so much as counter it, though Sumatrans are the smallest of the surviving species of tigers, they are considered the most ferocious. From my days working at the zoo when the mating pair was first acquired back in 2000, the standing orders were “shoot to kill” rather than “dart to save” should one have escape its exhibit because it most likely would attack the first person it encountered.

  3. Wow, thanks for that info Will! I’ll bear that in mind if I’m ever in Sumatra. I wonder if there is some kind of “Napoleon Complex” at play…smallest tiger, fiercest tiger.
