What’s this? Is the Hollywood Christmas Parade back?

Did Tom LaBonge save Christmas?

I just received an advance listing of Hollywood Blvd. closures over the next couple months. Included is Oct. 16th for the premiere of “30 Days of Night”, Nov. 13th for a Victoria’s Secret Star ceremony (please don’t tell me this corporate giant gets a star on the Boulevard…), and a Victoria’s Secret Fashion on November 15th.

Full release after the jump, but here’s the exciting bit:

November 24th & 25th (Saturday & Sunday) Hollywood Santa Parade

No longer the “Hollywood Christmas Parade”? Is this the parade Councilmen Garcetti and LaBonge were seeking RFPs for as I mentioned in early July? The event isn’t currently listed in the online City calendar…

I’ll leave it up to other bloggers to research this and find out the skinny, but here’s some mystery: the domain hollywoodsantaparade.com was registered anonymously on September 20th, 2007.

  1. Santa Parade is happening for sure. Eric Garcetti (whose district it is all in) saved it, actually (don’t know but don’t think the mayor was involved but LaBonge was a supportive cheerleader), despite Chamber of Commerce’s attempt to kill it. Don’t expect much for it this year, but cool that it is not dead. Love the c-list stars. No irony–one of my favorite, “real” L.A. events.
