I’ve loved these guys, who aptly call their music “poetry-core,” since I first heard them while I was in college. So it’s a real pleasure to be able to give away three pair of tickets to their show with The Last Town Chorus and Jeremy Fisher at the El Rey on the second of October. I remember the last time I saw them–they played the Troub in the early oughts (I forget the exact year) with…hmmm…it might have been onelinedrawing or the Jealous Sound or Sunday’s Best. Wow, time flies–that feels like it was two, three lifetimes ago.
So, without further ado, the three questions you need to answer:
1. What band was the lead singer in before The Weakerthans?
2. What’s the name of the publishing collective he runs?
3. What’s the cat’s name?
Email your answers to me, rather than posting them in the comments.
“I found the safest place to keep all our tenderness, keep all our bad ideas, keep all our hope.
It’s here in the smallest bones, the feet and the inner-ear. It’s such an enormous thing to walk and to listen.”
Someone made the really good point, in the last contest I blogged, that my sphinxian series of question-hurdles made it impossible for folks who were curious about the bands (as opposed to Die-Hard Old-School fans) to secure tickets. It’s true that I’m skewing this towards the DHOS’ers. But if you’re new to the band and would really enjoy going to the show, email me anyway, and explain why you’re intrigued by the band and why you’d like the tickets. Maybe I’ll relent. :)
