It’s September 18th, that means it’s just 10 days till the 28th which is the opening of the first ever Swerve Festival here in LA. From their site:
“Swerve Festival is a new annual festival dedicated to celebrating West Coast creative culture and its community inspired by art, film, music and action sports. The three-day celebration will be held in Los Angeles to bring together a dynamic group of innovators and thinkers and to spotlight some of the most exciting work to come out of these creative disciplines.”
Swerve is the first festival to combine these things in such an awesome way. And by “ever” I mean “that I know about” and “here in Los Angeles”. Of course. Full festival details are still being released but so far much of the music programming has been announced. Bands like We Are Scientists, Bonde Do Role, Illinois, Thee More Shallows, Oh No! Oh My!, Snowden, Foreign Born, The Black Angels, The Toxic Avenger, Juiceboxxx, LA Riots and more will be playing. If you are a fan of those bands then feel free to be all psyched about them, as for me the thing that has me supper giddy is that Anton Corbijn’s Control (the Joy Division movie everyone with any kind of taste in music has been talking about for months) will be closing out the fest. Also, we’re partnering with the folks behind the fest to bring you details and interviews and scoops and more details. Tickets are available already, and we’ll have more info soon. Promise.
