The Ashes of Griffith Park

A few days after the Griffith Park fire, Colin Brown of Silver Lake was able to visit the park, and brought his camera. The resulting photos are apocalyptic and eerie, revealing both literally and figuratively what lays below the skin of Griffith Park.

The photo at right is as mysterious as it is creepy: what kind of animal is that, and more importantly, how did it get there?

Check out Colin’s entire “After the Fire” photo set at Flickr.

  1. wow amazing image….caught in jump, died then something cleaned off the bones is a bit much to comprehend. Let’s blame it on aliens and move forward.

  2. Thanks for posting this. Sad images on your Flickr page but the green will grow back. Glad to hear of the re-opening. I miss the park. I’ve been riding my bike through Elysian Park in the meantime. It’s got a couple good hills.

  4. thanks for sharing the photos. I just finished The Road by Cormac McCarthy, and these photos made the book come to life even more.
