Were you a bottle baby?

If so it may be time to return the favor.

LA Animal Services is calling all nurturing Angelenos to help
bottle feed some adorable but unfortunate tiny baby kitties. Each spring Animal Services takes inover 7,000 orphaned neonate kittens. Neonate means the kittens are too young to survive without a mother.

How can you help? By joining LA Animal Services Bottle Baby
Program. LA Animal Services provides the training and the accessories
needed to be a competent Foster Parent! This is the perfect program for clubs, seniors, invalids, or people unable to make long term commitments. You nurse these babies until they are old enough to be spayed or neutered and adopted out (about 6 to 8 weeks).

Once your charges are weaned, the Foster Parents have the option of adopting one or more of the kittens or returning them to Animal Services Adoption Program.

(yeah like you could part with a kitten after that kind of experience – what are you a monster?)

To sign up for the program and receive more information, please email leslie.dorticos AT lacity DOT org or call 213.305.9068.

  1. Yeah, “foster”…I have friends that “fostered” a big ol’ red boxer/pit mix and she’s been with them for almost five years now. :) Wish I could dedicate my time to this – as much work as kittens are, they are so damn cute and lovable.

  2. hi — I work for animal services and I’m personally really excited about the fostering program and plan to join in a few weeks after I move to my new place.

It’s meant to be short term, we can’t prevent you from loving them so much you want to keep them. It’s cat season soon, we’ll be flooded with kitties in the coming weeks. Thanks for posting this!
