Let iTunes tell you when your favorite bands are playing in LA

Have iTunes? Then you need iConcertCal. This little add on is the coolest thing I’ve seen all week. It scans your iTunes library and lets you know when bands whose songs you have are playing near you. I’ve already found out about some shows I didn’t know were about to happen. Super good if you have ears and like music and stuff.

Yeah this is the coolest thing I’ve seen lately too. You beat me to this post, I just installed this yesterday. It’s pretty insane. Anyone know how it works? What’s it pulling from?

I saw this a few weeks ago (@ LifeHacker maybe?) and gave it a shot. My only problem is that I live in LA — where there are a lot of concerts — and I have 10k songs in my iTunes library. Basically it chokes. I think it’s a great idea; it just couldn’t handle my system. If they make some improvements I’ll try it again …

I think it pulls from the Pollstar listings. If you click on a show, that’s where it takes you.

SonicLiving does the same, and also hooks into last.fm . Been a happy user for a while. I should try out this iConcertCal thing as well.
