Now, Jessica Chisum, aka Black Betty, invites you to help celebrate her recent crowning with a movie and some cocktails:
Horrorfest is almost over! For those of you in LA, please join me tomorrow night, Tuesday, November 21st at the Sunset Laemmle Theatre where I will be attending the 10pm performance of David Arquette’s fantastic horror film, THE TRIPPER. David and some of his cast will be attending the screening as well. The movie was produced, directed, written by and starring David Arquette. Now that’s talent!
Come watch it with me!!! Afterwards we’ll all get drinks at Bar Sinister! SCARY!
The Tripper stars “Lukas Haas, Balthazar Getty, Brad Hunt, Paul Reubens, Jason Mewes, Thomas Jane, and a wonderfully heartfelt performance by Jamie King, as our heroine Sam.”
I’d also like to point out the film also features local rocker Stephen Heath, who previously starred in the long running play, Fluffy Bunnies in a Field of Daisies, and frequently jams at King King and Les Deux Cafes.
After the jump, a synopsis for The Tripper, inspired by Arquette’s experiences and observations of growing up in Los Angeles…
From Black Betty:
It is a political horror movie about a person obsessed with Ronald Reagan who attacks hippies on drugs at an outdoor music festival.
David says, “It was inspired by growing up in Los Angeles during the Reagan years, and several Dead show parking lots, not to mention Reggae on the River. It has a bunch of laughs in it, if I may say myself, mostly because my friends are in it and among the funniest people I have ever met. The cast includes Lukas Haas, Balthazar Getty, Brad Hunt, Paul Reubens, Jason Mewes, Thomas Jane, and a wonderfully heartfelt performance by Jamie King, as our heroine Sam. I hope you like it, I’ve spent years making this come to life and I really do feel people that enjoy horror films will have a blast at this one.”
