The HD DVD Experience Tour…

I’m still undecided on the high-definition DVD formats Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD, and the flamewars that have erupted (which Bill Hunt at the L.A.-based The Digital Bits echoes), with the vitriol of the Mac vs. Windows and the Xbox 360 vs. Nintendo Wii vs. Playstation 3 debates, doesn’t help.

But for what it’s worth, the HD DVD Experience Tour, starts on September 14th in Denver and comes to L.A. on November 15th and 16th at a location to-be-announced.

And at the event, Microsoft will be demonstrating its 360 HD DVD external drive:

A tour promoting HD DVD is launching in September, and Microsoft will be providing its Xbox 360 + HD DVD combo as an example of the experience. Looks like a sign of confidence that the HD DVD extension will be on par with other HD DVD players — whether the price will also be on par has yet to be seen. …

In other news, the HD DVD players outsold Sony-backed Blu-ray players by 33% during their respective launch windows, according to NPD.
