Lily Allen @ The Troubadour…

I’ve been following the buzz about the MySpace and hipster blogger sensation Lily Allen (MySpace) with great interest.

Back in May, Stereogum confessed:

Yes, Stereogum too has been obsessed with Lily Allen. Especially because we know almost nothing about the blogosphere’s newest download darling from across the pond. When ThighsWideShut passed us an MP3 of “Knock ‘Em Out,” we hit play and wondered for a few secs if she was the new Nellie McKay or the new M.I.A. And then her cheeky/ballsy rhymes took over: turns out Lily’s a female Mike Skinner, and absolutely infectious. Also nab her debut single “LDN” which has been getting love on Radio 1 and MySpace, where she’s amassed quite a following.

Jax at Rock Insider described “LDN” as such: “This song sounds like a rainbow popsicle from an ice cream truck in brooklyn on a scorching hot day with kids playing in a fire hydrant spraying out into the street” and “LDN is officially my summertime anthem.”

Allen will be doing her first Stateside tour in October, with stops in San Francisco, LA, Chicago, and New York City. Locally, she’ll be performing on October 14th at The Troubadour in West Hollywood. Tickets went onsale last Thursday, and as of this writing, they sold out yesterday. Hope you got yours already.

  1. LDN actually reminds me just a little bit of the English Beat. I’m not convinced I like her music, but so far I don’t hate it.

  2. She’s more like a Brit Pop Sensation. Blogs lover her just because most bloggers (i.e me) have a huge boner for the UK. Why that is, I have no idea.

  3. She is also daughter of Britcom actor and one-time Blur’s best mate Keith Allen (the dead body in Shallow Grave). So the brit pop connection runs deep.

  4. Lily Allen is also playing the Mod Club Theatre in Toronto on the 8th of October, and the LA show is well sold out already…

  5. Yikes and Oops – Update to info I JUST posted – Lily’s Toronto show has been moved, as per Ticketmaster, Canada —
