If you’ve ever had a great idea
for how to improve our community…
If you’ve ever thought,
They should do that differently…
If you’ve ever complained about City services
(tree trimming, street paving, construction schedules, traffic…)
If ANY of these statements applies to you
(and let’s face it, who hasn’t complained about City services?)
SILVER LAKE NEEDS YOU!
STEP UP AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
Elections for the 2006-2007 Silver Lake Neighborhood Council Governing Board will be held on Saturday, September 30. Stakeholders like you will elect 11 new members to the Board: one representative for each of Silver Lake’s seven regions and three “At Large” representatives, plus an additional representative to fill the unexpired term of late Region 3 representative Robin Dakin.
The SLNC needs candidates. If you have ever thought about getting involved in the grassroots effort to make Los Angeles government more open, more responsive, more representative, NOW is your chance. It’s not as hard as it might sound – in fact, it’s a great opportunity to get to know your neighbors. And that’s really what the SLNC is all about: building an even stronger community in Silver Lake, and the city as a whole.
But you only have two more weeks to file! Candidate Declaration forms can be downloaded and dropped off, mailed or faxed to the SLNC office at 2898 Rowena Avenue, Suite 101. But they must be received by 6:30 PM on Wednesday, August 16.
Please note that there is a mandatory candidate orientation that night at 7 PM, so if you plan to run, you or a predesignated* representative should make arrangements to attend.
Don’t let this opportunity pass you by. Silver Lake needs YOU.
*The Election Procedures stipulate that representatives must be designated in writing to the Election Committee Chair, prior to the beignning of the orientation session.
