…A shirtless man with a blue-and-gold macaw on his shoulder mountainbiking about a mile up from the beginning of the most excellent Sam Merrill Trail in the San Gabriel Mountains above Altadena:

My wife Susan and I were so stunned by the sight as he rolled right by us that we totally forgot about our cameras until Susan finally brought hers to bear on the dynamic duo just before they disappeared around a bend (larger, uncropped and nonpixelated version here).
A photoset of other pix from our hike can be viewed here.

This is not his first trip in the blogosphere. I’m not sure it’s the same guy, but what are the chances that it’s not?

At least it wasn’t one of those voracious Condors swooping down on him.
Good eyes Manduca! My bet is it’s the same dude. And yeah Cybele, those predator scavengers are getting more and more aggressive.
I love it when the world is less like the actual world and more like a Python skit. All you need now are some old ladies shouting about spam and your day is complete!
this is so awesome. reminds me a bit of a dude i used to see on the boardwalk in venice. he always biked his bird down to the bistro for a drink during the afternoon. He had really fat modified beach tires. one time i caught them biking home and the macaw was barking (?) at him the whole way. “Alright, alright!” the guy says, pedalling faster.
