E3 2006…

Those swarms of computer and videogame enthusiasts descending upon the LA Convention Center this week means that E3 (the Electronic Entertainment Expo) is in full swing once again, with the expo portion starting on Wednesday and running through Friday.

If you weren’t able to secure passes ahead of time (this year it was apparently much more difficult to get them than in previous years, and they’re being listed at $250.00$300.00 on eBay although they’ve been offered for as much as $1,000.00 on Craiglist), check Joystiq, GameSpot, and IGN for regular updates.

But if you were able to secure passes, and you’ve never been to E3 before, here are two survival guides on maximizing your convention experience, because realistically, you will *not* be able to get through it all in a single day. And don’t forget about the parties as well as the I Am 8-Bit art show that runs through the 19th at Gallery Nineteen Eighty Eight.

More after the jump.

According to one writer (Digg), it appears that Nintendo could be the one to leap past Sony and Microsoft and emerge with the coveted gaming buzz into the holiday shopping season.

Off the top of my head, here are a few of the things I’m looking forward to checking out this year:

What are you looking forward to at E3 this year?
