Responding to Your Own Blog == Fired Suspended @ LAT

It looks like another experiment at the Times has failed, this time due to the Golden State blog author, Michael Hiltzik, responding to his own posts under an assumed identity. He was outed by some blogger sleuths last week and now the Chi-Town Trib (owned by the same parent company as the LAT) is reporting the axe fall suspension.

Update, I misread the article I linked to and as it turns out Hiltzik was just suspended. Thanks for pointing that out Cybele.

  1. He wasn’t fired, just suspended and when he gets back from this unpaid leave, they’ll reassign him.

I don’t know if they’re going to put another writer on the blog or just shut it down.

  2. Hiltzik’s story is tragically comic, considering that I’ve read plenty of blogs where the authors reply to their own posts using assumed names. Some even start flame wars with themselves. I’m leery of newspaper blogs for this reason.

  3. Not much on my mind these days, but what can I say? It’s not important. I just don’t have much to say lately. I’ve just been letting everything pass me by recently, but eh.
