Have you been to the yarn store featured in Six Feet Under? If not, you should check it out.
In addition to having a superior selection of yarns, the staff at Unwind is super-nice, very knowlegeable, and absolutely eager to help with all manner of knitting questions (unlike some other stores – and you bitches know who you are). They have a good selection of books and patterns too.
To top it off, Unwind is having a huge sale to celebrate their second anniversary: 25% off A LOT of stuff – GOOD stuff. Fer Chrissakes half the store is on sale.

(I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks the girls working in so many LA knitting shops are snooty biznitches – and this is why I struggle at home alone trying to desperately teach myself to knit.)
Absolutely you should check out Unwind. Of course they prefer you buy yarn there In Addition to asking for their help, but they are all very friendly and approachable so don’t be a chicken!
Also if you’re Beverly Center adjacent you can try Knit Cafe. They’ve had a lot of staff changes since I was last there (it’s far from me) but have always been great and they too have good yarn. They also have a new book out, should you care.
Didn’t Annika write a suspiciously similar looking post a few hours ago? Synchronicty?
