As a follow-up to my entry from the other day: this morning the City Council voted 13-2 to keep the elephants in LA and allow the LA Zoo to move forward with the Elephants of Surin habitat project.

I haven’t done any research on the opposition, so for all I know they had some excellent points. All I do know is that when I was a kid I got to ride on an elephant’s back at the Bronx Zoo and I loved it. Now that I have a baby coming I am going to renew my membership at the LA Zoo and enjoy the hefalumps when they come home for good.
