If I was willing to risk sounding fawning, I would say that the mood you conjured up was bordering on Chandler territory (how ironic is that, considering that the spirit of Marlowe was probably looking down on you from the window of his offices up on Hollywood Blvd). But I'm not willing to risk sounding fawning. So I'm not going to say it.
