Coastal bullet train may never hit the tracks

As the governator plans to pump billions of dollars into the states transport infrastructure (freeways), the high speed train that has been in planning for over ten years is starting to look like it may never happen. The nay-sayers in the CA legislature say that it is better to build more freeways then to gamble on a high speed train. I suppose that give the history of public transportation via trains in California (apart from BART) it is no surprise that we would rather build freeways then public rail. .
