Fire at 8th and Central

Fire at 8th and Central

I took this photo driving west on the 10 through downtown. Traffic wasn’t slower than usual for 11 am, but I did notice black smoke from what I assumed was a building.

I got more info once I got to my apartment. From NBC 4 News:

More than 100 firefighters were sent to the two-story structure at Eighth Street and Central Avenue shortly before 10 a.m., said Jim Wells of the Los Angeles Fire Department. No one was hurt and the fire did not spread to any other structures, Wells said.

The flames were extinguished in about two hours, Wells said. The cause of the fire was under investigation. A damage estimate was not immediately available.

Good job, LAFD.

Thanks for the kind words. I finally got aroung to making an entry on our blog, which includes some images and video for those who did not see the fire yesterday. The best news of course, is that no one was injured.

Again, thanks for your kind words. They mean more than you know. Please rest assured that we will continue to do everything possible to remain worthy of your respect and praise.
