From the “Oh God, please kill me” department…

Looks like people are starting to talk about coachella already. Regular b.la readers know that this event regularly tops our things to stay as far away from as possible list. So what if Portishead and Smashing Pumpkins are getting back together to play it? It’s in the middle of the desert and you should have seen both those bands a long time ago. As far as I’m concerned Jesus Christ and the Apostles could be reuniting to headline it and I’d still opt out.

  1. Jesus Christ back from the dead? Thats nothing. I wouldn’t go even if Joe Strummer came back from the dead, made up with Mick, let Topper play drums in the band, and went in the way back machine to 1979.

    Wait, I’m lying, I’d go.

  2. I’ve been going to Coachella for years now, but that is mostly because a good friend of mine does their printing, and also because I did some programming for them last year (the coachooser)… They used to have dnb acts but haven’t for a few years now.

  3. Jeeze – day one sounds so good I might actually go. Massive Attack? Portishead? Depeche Mode? I’ve never been to a rock concert before. (No really, I haven’t.) What’s it like?

  4. Cybele: That’s probably a bad “First” to go to. Great bands, but unless you like a crazy-long drive, not enough bathrooms, huge crowds, expensive water and 8 hour traffic jams, I’d go to a local show…

  5. gee, guys. I’m a pretty big hater and i always have a good time. maybe you need friends who are more fun to go with?

  6. I went in 2004 and aside from a long line to get into the camping area, I was thoroughly impressed with how well the festival was run and the breadth of performers they’re able to book. Even the food and water were reasonably priced!

  7. I went last year and it was cool! Going this year too! I would not camp there with a bunch of sweaty cooky people though. I would not PAY to camp there either! Get a hotel…if you still can!
