I try to get out and experience the fruits of LA’s creativity and this is what I’m looking at this week. Maybe you want to tune into my frequency.
Wednesday: Faerie Tales on Theory Radio, 8-11pm
Thursday: Ministry of Unknown Science doing the supposedly most hilarious screenplay never to be produced: Ashton Kucher pinches loaves for Dick. They tell me I’ll leave holding my side crawling to my bed. MBar (1253 Vine in Hollywood), 7:30pm, $5. I’ve never seen a Ministry show, but I know the guys and I believe them.
Sat/Sunday: Mutator show at the LA County Fair. What more reason could you have to eat funnel cakes and check out the agro culture that LA has to offer? Shows on Sat are at 7:30pm, 9:30pm and 11:30pm. Sunday at 6:30pm, 8:00pm and 9:30pm. If they’re not your deal, you can check out the Pie eating contest where you will be sure to see whipped cream flying at 2pm on Saturday at the Shopping Place Stage.
Sunday: Think live radio is dead? Or just escaped to Lake Wobegone? Think again, it’s live and here in LA. New Frequency is a live radio troupe that performs original radio plays. They happen to be putting a show on Sunday at the Roxy at 7pm, $15 for advanced tickets.
