I dragged along my summer concert buddy to a free show last night, he says I owe him one now. I don’t blame him not because the show sucked, but because if you’re not a fan of the Harry Potter books you’d be a little lost and miss some of the jokes in the songs.
I saw Harry and the Potters last night at the Westside Jewish Community Center along with lots of kids and teenage girls in band t-shirts proclaiming “Save Ginny!” or “Voldemort Can’t Stop the Rock!”
Harry and the Potters is made up of brothers Paul DeGeorge (Harry Year 7) and Joe DeGeorge (as Harry Year 4). All the songs are related to characters, situations and plot lines in each of the six books. The DeGeorge brothers even wrote one about some romantic developments in the latest addition to the series, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
If you have kids, siblings into Harry Potter, they’ll definitely enjoy Harry and the Potters. Hell, if you like Harry Potter, I’d suggest checking out one of there other LA-area shows this week. They’ll be at the Central Library this afternoon at 3. For more shows in the area, check here.
