LOS ANGELES — Union Station in downtown Los Angeles was closed to all inbound trains and buses because a “suspicious package” was found Wednesday morning near an escalator at the eastern area of the facility, according to transit officials.

A sheriff’s bomb squad was sent to investigate.

Authorities rendered the package safe. The station reopened at about noon.
