Antiviolence LA

Last month I wrote about Joshua Pfannkuche getting mugged on the MTA. The situation is gaining more attention (as it should) and Joshua’s brother Sam (from the LA band Imperative Reaction) is putting together a charity function being called “Antiviolence LA” to bring more attention and raise some funds which will be split between medical bills and another non-profit victim group. This looks to be brand new and they are looking for any and all kinds of help from donations to help locating a venue for their event which is so far including donations from A.F.I., Assemblage 23, Imperative Reaction, System Syn, and Haujobb. I’m sure there will be more news about this soon.

Thanks for publicizing this event, which spearheads a deep and pressing issue in our community.

Sam’s experience not only causes me to wince, but also gives greater meaning to the commonly used expression of “Stay Safe and Be Well”. I look forward to the day that he can not only be healthy, but can walk the streets of our City without fear.

I’m so impressed by the grassroots efforts of Mr. Pfannkuche that I will be sending some items for the AntiViolence LA raffle.

Please keep us posted on this and similar events.
