A day at the park

I got my first shiner yesterday due to the fact that I’m not as good at catching baseballs as I assumed.

I was playing catch with a friend. We should have been playing baby shower games, but on a June Sunday afternoon playing catch barefoot in the grass is a more fitting activity than guessing how big the mom-to-be is using toilet paper.

Even though getting hit with a baseball really sucked, the setting — Schabarum Regional Park in Rowland Heights (off the 60 east) — was quite nice.

Schabarum Park is one of seven LA County regional parks located throughout the county.

In north LA county you’ll find Castaic Lake and in the east heading out to the deserts, you can stop by Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas. Considering LA traffic, you’ll probably spend an hour or more on the road, but the time spent driving might be worth your while.

After all, the website describes them as FUN!
