Fireworks Season

Yes, it’s that time of year again. The boys of summer are in their fields and the flowers are getting set to bloom in the lake. It’s the time of the year when humans send pretty explosives into the air.

For those living on the east side, here’s the current schedule as I know it:

Saturday, April 30th – Dodger Stadium – Cinco de Mayo Fireworks (courtesy of BofA)

Sunday, July 3rd – Doger Stadium – Independence Day Fireworks (courtesy of Farmer John)

Saturday, July 9th – Echo Park Lake – The Lotus Festival Fireworks

Friday, September 23rd – Dodger Stadium – LA Summer Lights Show

If you want to add to this list, just leave a comment and I’ll update it. But on those nights, you know I’ll be up on my roof watching the displays.

  1. For Independence Day public fireworks displays in and near the City of Los Angeles, the LAFD will provide an on-line roster beginning June 24th at:

Respectfully Yours in Safety and Service,

    Brian Humphrey
    Public Information Officer
    Los Angeles Fire Department

  2. Then of course, there are those unofficial fireworks shows that come to the rest of L.A. beginning about a week before July 4 and continuing until about a week after. Can’t WAIT, because personally I just can’t get enough “Whistlin’ Petes.” Those never get old. Even after the thousandth one. And that occasional quarter-stick dynoboom of an M-80? Good thing I got that portable defibrilator.

  3. That and the assholes who think firing guns in the air is a good way to celebrate.

I think we should allow them to do that as much as they want, with the condition they fire straight up in the air and then not move afterwards.
