In today’s L.A. Times Calendar section is an article about the new Litblog Co-Op, driven by a widespread group of bookish bloggers whose goal is to showcase works of fiction that might otherwise not find the public’s eye.
Says Santa Monica-based blogger Mark Sarvas of The Elegant Variation who pulled the project together, “The mission is to see what happens when 10 to 20 lit bloggers get behind a title and push hard.”
That push will come via Litblog Co-Op’s “Read This!” campaign, which will avoid mass-marketed titles or those by established authors. Contributors will nominate works they deem worthy, from which the entire group will then select one to jointly herald on a quarterly basis. The first is scheduled to be announced May 15.
