Actually, I think that was the same cow.

It is windy outside. The NWS has issued wind advisories for Los Angeles, Ventura, Riverside, and San Bernardino county mountain passes.

HIGH PRESSURE DEVELOPING OVER NEVADA IS CAUSING GUSTY NORTHEAST
WINDS TO DEVELOP IN THE MOUNTAINS AND VALLEYS OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
AS WELL AS THE ANTELOPE VALLEY. GUSTY WINDS WILL CONTINUE THROUGH EARLY
TUESDAY AFTERNOON BEFORE DIMINISHING.

As I was propelled down the sidewalk to the post office earlier, palm fronds hurtling around like flying monkeys, I half-expected to see some old codger in the doorway of a Curiosities Shoppe, muttering, “Aye, they call those bastards the Widowmakers.”

Other parts of SoCal, not so much. How is it where you are?

  1. I was trying to fly some kites yesterday with my kids and we could’ve used some of this wind. Oh well.

Conditions currently in South LA: Nice soft breeze and much too nice to be stuck at work inside.

  2. Thanks for the weather report! In case anyone was wondering, up to the minute California weather and emergency alerts can be accessed on-line via the State’s EDIS, which also offers links to e-mail such messages.
Oh, and since you asked… in a bunker four floors below City Hall, things are 72F and flourescent. :)

  3. just wanted to say i LOVE the post title. nothing funner than a clever post title.

though i’m now, unfortunately, unable to clear my head of helen hunt saying, oh-so-seriously, “you’ve never seen it skip this house and skip that house and come after YOU!”

    oh the drama . . . .
