I hate it. I change the channel or hit mute as soon as it comes on. I already don’t frequent Quiznos just because they’re expensive and I’m poor, but if I could go there less in protest I would. Somebody thought it was clever. That somebody was dead wrong.
The first time I saw it I was zipping through commercials on Tivo and caught of glimpse of something weird. “What the fuck was THAT?!” After zooming back and watching it a few times all I could say was “What the FUCK was that?!”
In case you’re curious, there’s more of this guy’s stuff at http://www.rathergood.com/. All of it creepy and bizarre. I love it!
Thing is, love it or hate it, it’s created buzz (this blog post is a case in point, and Michael Levine has commented publically on it too). It’s what people are talking about, so it’s half done it’s job. The other half (increase in sales) remains to be seen… Top of mind marketing… that’s the stuff. Here’s to the Spongmonkeys…
However, I would have liked to have been a fly on the wall in the meeting where they decided on that commercial – would like to hear their reasoning; the talk about the demographic they were trying to attract.
it brought web culture to break time discussion at my high school. anything that does that is awesome.
I must admit, the first time I saw it, I was confused.
Then I thought it was just weird for the sake of being weird, with the intention of getting people to talk about Quiznos . . . which seems to have worked.
Then I hated it for a while, and now I think it’s extremely funny.
Thank sweet baby Jesus that I don’t have TV and have no idea what you’re talking about!
Oh so sorry to see this guy has sold out. The kittens in gaybar used to be my favorite song in 02. Havent seen the ad….don’t know what quiznos is.
what I think is, its high time to post something on your blog.
