MISSING: 170 pound bronze Yoda, reward

BoingBoing tips us off to this little “snatch and run” in Pasadena.

“A thief stole a 170-pound bronze statue of Star Wars’ Jedi master Yoda from the back of a truck in Pasadena, Calif., on Jan. 17, the Zap2it Web site reported. Four of the 36 Lucasfilm-commissioned statues were bolted down to a flatbed truck for transport to Los Angeles to be sold. The truck’s drivers, who had stopped at a Westway Inn, found the statue missing the next morning.”

This nerd wet dream is estimated at to be worth between $15,000 – $20,000 and they are offering a $1,000 reword for it’s return. Huh? $1,000?!! Who ever was smart enough to swipe that thing, I’m guessing is smart enough to do the math on that on as well. My guess is it’s not going to show up anytime soon.

  1. I’m not picking on your post Sean:

Can somebody reset the typeface back to regular. When the text size is so small that the tall letters come out at only 7 pixels high, and the small ones resolve to 5 pixels high, you guys really shouldn’t be using italics. I find it so hard to read now.

    Thanks for listening.

  2. The problem with snatching something so rare like that is that it would be hard to sell later.

And if you keep it, who can you really show it to? Someone is bound to blab about it.

    I’m just sayin…

  3. Andy- we didn’t change anything, perhaps there was a problem with your browser loading?

    Robert- Most amusing you are.

Joz- Don’t try to pretend you don’t know about the star wars black market!

  4. Heard this guy on KFWB. He was saying that Yoda is inately good and the person who stole the statue is taking something that is good away from good people and that is bad. I wish I could remember what he said because it was amusing. He was all choked up like he was going to cry. That part was sort of amusing. Oh how I wish they had an archive right now so I’m not laughing alone…
